"Baby, was ist unter deinem Kleid?": Aktivistin schreibt Belästigungen auf die Straße

Was einige Männer als Kompliment verstehen, ist für viele Frauen unangenehm. Ein blöder Spruch oder sogar eine Drohung - Sophie Sanderberg macht öffentlich, was sich Frauen in New York tagtäglich anhören müssen.
Auf dem Boden steht mit leuchtender Kreide geschrieben: "Yeah Baby", "Du solltest lernen zu antworten, wenn ein Mann mit dir spricht" oder "Zieh dir was an, du H*re!" – unangenehme Sprüche, die Frauen in New Yorker Straßen zu hören bekommen haben. Darunter finden sich Hinweise auf den Instagram-Account "catcallsofnyc" von Sophie Sanderberg und auf das Schlagwort "stopstreetharassment" ("Stoppt Belästigung auf der Straße").
Seit zwei Jahren veröffentlicht die 21-jährige Studentin Sanderberg die Sprüche: Belästigungen, Beleidigungen, Drohungen, Kommentare. "Viele haben resigniert und ertragen solche Situationen, weil sie annehmen, es sei Teil unserer Kultur oder etwas Normales", sagt Sanderberg im Washington Square Park in Manhattan. Sie trifft dort mehr als 30 Frauen, die ihre Erfahrungen schildern und Sprüche auf den Boden schreiben, von denen sie sich belästigt fühlen. "Das Wichtige ist, dass sich jeder des Problems bewusst wird", sagt Sanderberg. Mittlerweile hat sie auf Instagram rund 30 000 Follower und immer mehr ihrer Fans wünschen sich, dass ein solcher Account auch für ihre Stadt gemacht wird.

Der Begriff "Catcall" beschreibt Sprüche, Pfiffe und Rufe, die Frauen auf der Straße zu hören bekommen. "Nicht immer liegt das Problem, in dem, was sie rufen", meint Shara, eine der Frauen, die in den Park gekommen sind: Auf den Kontext komme es an. Nachts um 2.00 Uhr auf einer menschenleeren Straße kann auch ein "Kompliment" von einem Unbekannten beängstigend sein.
Um einen Spruch zu veröffentlichen, können Frauen eine Nachricht mit Inhalt und Ortsangabe über Instagram an Sanderberg schicken. Sie schreibt den Spruch dann mit leuchtender Kreide an der Stelle auf den Boden – ähnlich den Markierungen an einem Tatort.
Erst vor Kurzem waren Medien auf eine andere Aktivistin aufmerksam geworden, die auf ihrem Account "dearcatcallers" über einen Monat Selfies mit den Männern veröffentlicht, die ihr Momente zuvor nicht anzügliche Dinge hinterher gebrüllt hatten.
