Das sportliche Talent liegt Jaden Agassi in den Genen. Seine Eltern Steffi Graf und Andre Agassi sind Tennis-Legenden. Aber Tennis wird es beim Sohnemann nicht.
Der Sohn der beiden Tennis-Legenden Steffi Graf und Andre Agassi ist zum ersten Mal für die deutsche Baseball-Nationalmannschaft nominiert worden. Der 23 Jahre alte Jaden Agassi soll im März in einem WM-Qualifikationsturnier in Tucson im US-Bundesstaat Arizona zum Einsatz kommen. Das gaben der Deutsche Baseball und Softball Verband (DBV) und die Amerikanische Major League Baseball (MLB) als Ausrichter der WM 2026 bekannt.

Jaden Agassi ist das ältere von zwei Kindern von Steffi Graf, die in ihrer Karriere insgesamt 377 Wochen an der Spitze der Tennis-Weltrangliste stand und 22 Grand-Slam-Titel im Einzel gewann. Ihr Sohn studierte an der University of Southern California und spielt seit dem vergangenen Jahr für die Mahoning Valley Scrappers aus der MLB Draft League, einer Art Talentpool der Major League Baseball.

"Agassi ist natürlich ein sehr tennis-lastiger Name. Mein Ziel ist, daraus einen Baseball-Namen zu machen", sagte er den WKBN-News in den USA. "Das war schon immer mein Sport." Auf Instagram folgen dem Baseball-Star bereits knapp über 20.000 Menschen. Dort teilte der 23-Jährige bereits Bilder mit seiner Freundin Catherine Holt. Mit ihr ist Agassi seit etwas mehr als zwei Jahren liiert.

Die deutsche Nationalmannschaft spielt in dem WM-Qualifikationsturnier gegen China (2. März), Brasilien (3. März) und Kolumbien (5. März). Zwei der vier Teams sind im nächsten Jahr bei den World Baseball Classics dabei, die seit 2013 die offizielle Weltmeisterschaft sind.
