Jaap Scheeren, geb. 1979 in Nijmegen, lebt und arbeitet in Amsterdam. Er hat schon mindestens fünf Bücher heraus gebracht, darunter The Black Hole (mit Anouk Kruithof), Oma Toos, ein slowakisches Märchenbuch namens 3 Roses, 9 Ravens, 12 Months und zusammen mit Hans Gremmen Fake Flowers.
Jaap hat uns eine Anekdote aus seinem Leben geschickt, die wir euch nicht vorenthalten möchten:
A drunken man from Nijmegen was pulled out of a freshly made road after he fell into the mixer and ended up in a puddle of quick drying cement. The 34 year old man walked home after an obviously social lunch with friends. He saw that the road was blocked by machines that were left on the street by road workers that went for lunch. The drunken man tried to step over the machines but slipped. He fell into the mixer which the road workers forgot to switch off. After rotating with the cement for a couple of minutes he was poured out in a puddle of cement. While the man struggled to get out of it he only slipped deeper into the cement until you could only see his head sticking out.
