Der Fortbestand der Fußballnation ist gesichert: Cathy und Mats Hummels sind heute Eltern eines kleinen Jungen geworden. Über den Namen darf noch gerätselt werden.
So sieht eine glückliche Mutter aus: "Willkommen auf der Welt unser kleiner Mann", schrieb Cathy Hummels heute gegen 15 Uhr auf Instagram. "Wir sind sehr stolz, dass du heute, am 11.1.18, das Licht der Welt erblickt hast. In Liebe, deine Mama." Dazu bedankte sich die 29-Jährige bei ihrem Ehemann Mats Hummels "für das schönste Geschenk der Welt".
Der präsentierte das gemeinsame Kind ebenfalls stolz auf seinem Instagram -Kanal. In seinem in englischer Sprache formulierten Post schrieb er: "Schaut, wer sich entschieden hat, uns anzuschließen", schrieb der frühere BVB-Star. "Willkommen in dieser schönen Welt. Wir sind unfassbar glücklich und ich könnte nicht stolzer auf meine Ehefrau und meinen kleinen Sohn sein, denen es beiden gut geht." Über den Namen des Kindes schwieg sich das Paar aus.

Mats und Cathy Hummels sind seit ihrer Jugendzeit ein Paar, bereits 2007 lernten sie sich kennen. Ein Jahr später folgte Cathy, die damals noch ihren Mädchennamen Fischer trug, ihrem Freund ins Ruhrgebiet, wo er die nächsten acht Jahre lang für Borussia Dortmund spielte. Der Sohn eines Fußballtrainers und einer Sportjournalistin stieg dort zu einem der weltweit besten Innenverteidiger auf. Mit dem BVB holte er zwei Meisterschaften, einen Pokalsieg und schafte es bis ins Finale der Champions League. 2014 wurde er mit der deutschen Fußball-Nationalmannschaft in Brasilien Weltmeister.
Cathy Hummels legte derweil eine mustergültige Karriere als Spielerfrau hin. Bereits 2007 war sie zur "Miss FC Bayern München" gekürt worden. 2013 wurde sie von der Zeitschrift "Closer" zur "Beliebtesten Spielerfrau" gewählt. Daneben bastelte Cathy Hummels aber auch an ihrer eigenen Karriere. Sie studierte an der TU Dortmund Betriebswirtschaftslehre und machte ihren Abschluss mit der Note 2,3.
2015 heirateten Mats und Cathy Hummels, ein Jahr später zog das Paar zurück in ihre alte Heimat München, Mats unterschrieb einen Vertrag beim FC Bayern.
