Trauer in der Musik-Welt: Shifty Shellshock ist tot. Das Gesicht des Sängers der Band Crazy Town dürfte vielen vor allem aus dem Video des Hits "Butterfly" bekannt sein.
Shifty Shellshock, Sänger und Rapper der Band Crazy Town, ist im Alter von 49 Jahren gestorben. Das geht aus diversen Medienberichten und Unterlagen der Gerichtsmedizin von Los Angeles hervor. Seine Band veröffentlichte zudem ohne Worte ein Scharzweiß-Foto des Musikers auf Instagram, unter dem sich zahlreiche Beileids-Kommentare einfanden. Shellshock, der mit bürgerlichem Namen Seth Binzer hieß, hinterlässt zwei Söhne. Die Todesursache blieb zunächst unklar. Bekannt ist, dass Binzer jahrelang mit Alkohol- und Drogenproblemen zu kämpfen hatte.

Shifty Shellshock und Crazy Town landeten mit "Butterfly" einen riesigen Hit
Die musikalische Sternstunde von Shifty Shellshock und Crazy Town liegt bereits 24 Jahre zurück. Im Jahr 2000 lief das Video zu ihrer Hit-Single "Butterfly" im Musik -TV rauf und runter. Der Song basierte auf einem Lick der Red Hot Chili Peppers und wurde weltweit ein großer Erfolg, an den Crazy Town jedoch nie wieder anknüpfen konnte. Ende 2003 nahm sich die Band eine Auszeit, fand sich jedoch einige Jahre später wieder zusammen.
