US-Amerikaner baut Harry-Potter-Miniaturland in seinem Wohnzimmer

Ein US-Amerikaner hat in seinem Wohnzimmer das Harry-Potter-Universum im Miniformat nachgebaut. Der 1:87-Maßstab macht die Zaubererwelt fast noch magischer als die berühmten Bücher selbst.
Tony Rigby, ein Vater von vier Kindern aus dem US-Bundesstaat Utah, hat ein magisches Hobby: Er baut das Harry-Potter-Universum im Miniaturformat nach. Der 47-Jährige hat zahlreiche Ort der Zaubererwelt im 1:87 Maßstab gebastelt. Dazu gehören die Winkelgasse, Hagrids Hütte, Hogsmead, der Verbotene Wald und der Fuchsbau. Auch besondere Details, wie zum Beispiel der Fahrende Ritter, sind in seiner Miniatur-Welt zu finden. Aktuell beendet er das Schulgebäude Hogwarts. Dieses stelle er mit Hilfe eines 3D-Druckers her, sagte er der britischen Zeitung "The Independent". Seit mehr als einem Jahr modelliert er die Harry-Potter-Welt. Alles startete damit, dass Rigby eine kleine Figur gefunden hat, die ihn an Hagrid erinnerte. "Ich nahm etwas Ton und habe sie zu Hagrid gemacht. Dann dachte ich mir: 'Jetzt muss ich alles machen'", sagt er.

"Ein bisschen ist es eine Midlife-Crisis"
Mittlerweile hat sich Rigbys Welt schon auf das Wohnzimmer und das Schlafzimmer ausgebreitet. Den Familien-Esstisch hat er längst verkauft, den Platz benötigt er für seine Miniaturwelt. Er gibt zu, dass das große Projekt das Produkt einer Midlife-Crisis sein könnte. "Ich habe eine wundervolle Familie, aber ich suchte nach einer Erfüllung im Leben. Das soll nicht heißen, dass ich das nicht von meiner Familie bekomme. Aber das ist etwas Kreatives und ich habe nach einem kreativen Ansatz gesucht, um mein Leben zu verbessern."

Seine Kinder recherchieren nach kleinsten Details in den Büchern
Für die Figuren verwendet er oft eine fertige Figur, etwa Weihnachtsdekoration. Diese modifiziert und formt er mit Ton und bemalt sie anschließend. Einige Gebäude bestehen aus Pappe, andere druckt er mit einem 3D-Drucker. Für Stein- und Ziegeldetails verwendet er ebenfalls Ton, für die Fensterrahmen und weitere Elemente Holz. Viele Materialien recycelt er aus alltagsüblichen Objekten, andere kauft er im Hobby-Shop.

Um sicherzustellen, dass er alles richtig macht und keine Details übersieht, lesen Rigby und seine Kinder die Bücher erneut. Vor allem die Kinder entdecken in der Zaubererwelt immer neue Details, die sie noch nicht kannten. So macht ihnen die Suche Spaß. Rigby sagt, dass er in die Winkelgasse am meisten Mühe gesteckt habe. Deswegen ist das auch sein Lieblingsexponat. "Mit großer Anstrengung kommt normalerweise eine große Belohnung."
