Im Alter von drei Jahren verlor Lilly Becker ihre Eltern bei einem Autounfall. Aufgewachsen ist sie bei ihrer Großmutter Esseline. Die starb nun mit 90 Jahren und Becker verabschiedet sich mit einem rührenden Posting auf Instagram.

Fast 90.000 Menschen folgen der Noch-Ehefrau von Tennislegende Boris Becker. Doch in den vergangenen Wochen war es auffällig ruhig auf dem Profil der 42-Jährigen.
Nun erklärt sich auch, warum. Lilly Becker trauert um ihre geliebte Oma. Esseline Kerssenberg-Bradley ist im Alter von 90 Jahren verstorben. "Goodbye Mama #Oma. Wir haben uns ein letztes Mal umarmt und geküsst. Gott braucht seine Engel und er machte dich zu meinem Schutzengel", schrieb Becker zu einem Foto ihrer Großmutter.

Eltern von Lilly Becker starben bei einem Autounfall
Kerssenberg-Bradley war für die Niederländerin viel mehr als nur ihre geliebte Oma. Sie zog Lilly Becker und ihre Schwester Melissa groß. Die beiden Mädchen verloren ihre Eltern 1979 bei einem Autounfall. Lilly war damals erst drei Jahre alt. Ihre Mutter stammte aus Suriname, einer ehemaligen niederländischen Kolonie, ihr Vater war Schweizer. Becker wurde in Rotterdam geboren und lebte nach dem Tod ihrer Eltern zunächst bei der Großmutter in Amsterdam, später dann bei Onkel und Tante.

"Es klingt vielleicht komisch, aber weil ich bei ihrem Unfall noch so klein war und sie eigentlich nicht kannte, kann ich mir gar nicht vorstellen, wie es ist, Eltern zu haben. Meine Oma ist mein ein und alles. Sie ist Mutter und Vater zugleich für mich, und ohne sie wäre ich nicht der Mensch geworden, der ich heute bin. Meine Oma war immer die wichtigste Person in meinem Leben", sagte Becker 2014 im Interview mit der österreichischen Zeitschrift "Madonna" .
Oma Esseline begleitete Lilly Becker zur Hochzeit mit Boris
Zu ihrer Oma Esseline hatte Lilly Becker einen sehr engen Draht. Bei ihrer Hochzeit mit Boris Becker im Juni 2009 saß Lillys Großmutter auf dem Weg zur Kirche neben ihr im Auto. Sie begleitete ihre Enkelin gelegentlich bei öffentlichen Auftritten und saß in der ersten Reihe, als Becker 2014 bei "Let's Dance" tanzte. "Mir ist sehr wichtig, dass sie auf mich stolz sein kann", sagte Lilly Becker. Dieses Ziel will die 42-Jährige auch nach dem Tod ihrer Oma verfolgen. Ihr Posting schloss Becker mit den Worten: "I will fight till the end" und "I will make you proud".
