Eine blinde Braut aus Großbritannien hatte am Tag ihrer Hochzeit einen besonderen Wunsch: Sie wollte, dass ihre Gäste den schönsten Moment ihres Lebens so erleben, wie sie es tut. Den bewegenden Moment teilt sie in einem TikTok-Clip.
"Es war ein so emotionaler Moment, an den ich mich für den Rest meines Lebens erinnern werde", schreibt die Britin Lucy Edwards unter ihrem Video auf TikTok, welches sich inzwischen mehr als sechs Millionen Menschen angeschaut haben. In dem Video ist die Braut zu sehen, wie sie aus einem Auto steigt und von ihrem Vater zum Traualtar geführt wird. Bis dahin wirkt alles wie auf jeder anderen Hochzeit. Braut und Bräutigam haben sich für die Zeremonie jedoch etwas Besonderes überlegt: Alle Hochzeitsgäste und auch der Bräutigam sollen eine Augenbinde tragen.

This was such an important experience for us both even though Ollie isn’t blind, but we thought it was really important for him and all of my guests to experience what it’s like for me in the most important moment of our life so far. As you can see me, Ollie and my dad are really struggling to hold it together. It was such an emotional moment and one that I will remember for the rest of my life. I am so lucky that I have a husband that accepts me for exactly who I am my disability and everything. The whole me. I walked down the aisle to arrival of the birds by @The Cinematic Orchestra, as this is the song at the end of one of my favourite films, the Theory of Everything. Stephen Hawking has been a massive role model in my life and I always cry at the end of that movie at his final monologue. I really believe in the philosophy that we are all just small beings and atoms on this massive planet and Stephen taught me that you can love and hate your disability equally, and that’s a truly beautiful thing. It’s a sense of self that I’ve had to work on and I felt truly independent when walking down the aisle with my dad to this song. This is quite an emotional and raw moment to share with you guys, but I thought it was so important as it’s not a typical way that a bride walks down the aisle but it was my way. Just remember you are so special and you don’t have to follow traditions if you don’t want to. Our wedding day is about you and the person that you love and every moment needs to feel right for you. Als die Braut schließlich am Traualtar und bei ihrem Ehemann ankommt, setzten sich die Gäste und nehmen ihre Augenbinden ab. Sie schauen Ollie dabei zu, wie er mit noch verbundenen Augen das Kleid seiner Frau berührt: "Er konnte mein Hochzeitskleid so fühlen, wie ich es getan habe, als ich es zum ersten Mal anhatte", beschreibt die Braut den Moment.
Braut erklärt ihre Gründe
Lucy Edwards erklärt in der Beschreibung des Clips, wieso sie und ihr Mann sich vor der Hochzeit dazu entschieden haben, ihre Gäste den bis dahin schönsten Moment ihres Lebens so erleben zu lassen, wie sich für Lucy alles anfühlt. Sie wollte sich nicht wie jede andere Braut zum Altar führen lassen, sondern auf ihre Art: "Denkt daran, dass es etwas Besonders ist und ihr euch nicht an Traditionen halten müsst, wenn ihr das nicht möchtet", schreibt die Braut und fügt hinzu, dass es an einem Hochzeitstag um sie und die Person geht, die sie liebt – und dass sich der Moment richtig anfühlen muss.
Weil sie an der sehr seltenen genetischen Erkrankung namens Bloch-Sulzberger-Syndrom oder auch "Incontinentia pigmenti" leidet, verlor Lucy als Teenager ihr Augenlicht. Auf ihrem TikTok-Profil thematisiert die Frau ihre Erkrankung und zeigt sich regelmäßig bei Reisen und Unternehmungen als blinde Person. Ihre Follower zeigen sich begeistert unter dem Clip ihrer Hochzeit. Eine Nutzerin kommentiert: "Ich weine gerade. Das ist so ein schöner Moment. Danke, dass du ihn mit uns teilst". Eine andere Nutzerin schreibt: "Wow, Gänsehaut!" und "Ich liebe, dass er weinen muss, ohne zu sehen wie wunderschön sie aussieht."
