Moderne und Tradition vereinen sich durch die unterschiedlichen Generationen des britischen Königshauses. Die diesjährigen Weihnachtskarten der Royals spiegeln diese beiden Attribute wider.
Am zweiten Advents-Wochenende veröffentlichten die britischen Royals ihre Weihnachtskarten bei Instagram. Traditionell verschickt das britische Königshaus in jedem Jahr eine Weihnachtskarte mit den besten Wünschen.
König Charles III. und Königin Camilla hielten ihre Karte in diesem Jahr in einem sehr klassischen Design. Das Foto, das das Paar wählte, war für sie das wohl größte Ereignis des Jahres 2023: die Krönung von König Charles. Pompös posieren der König und die Königin mit Umhängen. Charles trägt die Staatskrone, während Camilla die Krone von Queen Mary trägt. Das Foto entstand im Mai, nach der Krönungszeremonie. Die Aufnahme machte der Fotograf Hugo Burnand im Thronsaal des Buckingham Palastes. Ähnlich formell wie das gewählte Foto sind auch die Wünsche des Königspaares, die auf der Karte niedergeschrieben sind: "Wir wünschen eine sehr fröhliche Weihnachtszeit und ein gutes neues Jahr."

Auch Prinz Williams Familie, die oftmals am britischen Hof für Moderne und Umbruch steht, wählte ein gediegeneres Foto, als im vergangenen Jahr. 2022 zeigte sich die Familie des Prinzen von Wales lässig, schlendernd an einem Sommertag in Freizeitkleidung draußen. In diesem Jahr entschieden sich William und Kate für ein professionelles Fotoshooting. Das Bild verschicken sie auf der Weihnachtskarte offenbar in schwarzweiß.

Im Partnerlook tragen Prinz William, Prinzessin Kate , Prinz Louis (links), Prinzessin Charlotte und Prinz George weiße Hemden. Die Damen der Familie tragen Jeans, die Herren dunkle Stoffhosen. Prinz Louis und Prinzessin Charlotte entschieden sich für lässige Sneaker. Das Foto entstand bereits Anfang des Jahres in Windsor, geschossen vom renommierten Fotografen Josh Shinner. Ein ähnliches Fotografenfoto verschickten Charles und Diana übrigens 1984 – kurz nach der Geburt von Prinz Harry zu Weihnachten.
