Eine Familie aus Argentinien, die 22 Jahre mit ihrem Oldtimer um die Welt fuhr und über 100 Länder besuchte, kehrte nun wieder in ihr Heimatland zurück. In Buenos Aires wurden sie feierlich empfangen.
Familie Zapp, die ursprünglich aus Argentien stammt, reiste 22 Jahre mit einem Oldtimer um die Welt. Mit ihrem Auto, einem Graham-Paige von 1928, durchquerten sie 100 Länder und insgesamt fünf Kontintente. Argentinien und wurden mit großen Jubel empfangen.
Im Jahr 2000 entschlossen sich Herman und Candelaria Zapp dazu, eine Entdeckungsreise durch ihr Heimatland zu unternehmen. Sie kündigten also ihre Jobs und reisten ein halbes Jahr durch Argentinien. Scheinbar brachte dieser Trip das Paar auf den Geschmack, denn bei diesem halben Jahr sollte es nicht bleiben. Nach dem Argentienen-Trip folgte eine Reise durch die ganze Welt, die sich über 22 Jahre erstreckte. In dieser Zeit besuchten sie 100 Länder und fünf Kontinente. Auf der Reise bekam das Paar vier Kinder in verschiedenen Ländern: In den USA wurde ihr Sohn Pampa geboren, in Argentinien kam Sohn Tehue zur Welt, in Kanada Tochter Paloma und in Australien Sohn Wallaby.

Unterkünfte in Privathäusern
In der Zeit lernte die Familie Menschen aus aller Welt kennen, die ihnen Unterkünfte anboten. Sie übernachteten in Gästezimmern und Privathäusern und wurden überall mit offenen Armen empfangen. Ihr gefühltes Zuhause war jedoch der Oldtimer. Um dieses Leben zu finanzieren schrieb das Paar Bücher, verkaufte selbstgemalte Gemälde oder hielt Vorträge auf verschiedenen Veranstaltungen. Die Kinder wurden alle von der Mutter privat unterrichtet. Für sie ist das Leben auf vier Reifen inzwischen zur Normalität geworden – sie kennen es ja nicht anders.

Ankunft in Buenos Aires
Mit der Botschaft: "Wenn du dich der Welt und den Menschen öffnest, öffnen sie sich dir", kehrt Familie Zapp nun in ihr Heimatland zurück. In Buenos Aires wurden sie bei der Ankunft feirlich von einer Oldtimer-Eskorte begleitet. Zudem standen hunderte jubelnde Menschen an der Straße, um die Zapps willkommen zu heißen. Familie Zapp war die Freude über diesen tollen Empfang förmlich in die Gesichter geschrieben.
