Der langjährige Schwergewichts-Champ Wladimir Klitschko willigt nach seiner Niederlage gegen Tyson Fury einem Rückkampf zu. Auf Instagram wendet er sich mit einer emotionalen Botschaft an seine Fans.
Der entthronte Boxweltmeister Wladimir Klitschko will den Rückkampf gegen Tyson Fury bestreiten. Diese Entscheidung hat der 39 Jahre alte Ukrainer am Mittwoch getroffen. "Direkt nach dem Kampf war ich echt frustriert, aber nach ein paar kürzeren Nächten weiß ich nun, dass ich zeigen will, dass mehr in mir steckt als das, was ich am Samstag gezeigt habe. Ich konnte zu keiner Phase mein Potenzial abrufen, und das will und werde ich im Rückkampf ändern!", sagte Klitschko.
Am vergangenen Samstag hatte er in Düsseldorf gegen Fury einstimmig nach Punkten verloren. Durch die erste Niederlage nach elf Jahren büßte er die WM-Titel der Verbände WBA, IBF und WBO ein. Ort und Zeit für den Rückkampf stehen noch nicht fest.
Wladimir Klitschko: "Scheitern ist keine Option"
Bereits in einem Instagram-Posting hatte sich Klitschko wieder kämpferisch gegeben. "Die Klitschko-Geschichte wird fortgesetzt. Scheitern ist keine Option", schrieb der 39 Jahre alte Profiboxer am Mittwoch. Fury favorisiert ein Duell im 90 000 Zuschauer fassenden Wembley-Stadion in London.

Klitschko wandte sich an seine Anhänger: "Ich muss meinen Fans, meinem Team und all meinen Partnern danken. Sie waren schon immer eine große Unterstützung. Nach einer elfjährigen Siegesserie habe ich erkannt, dass sie noch zahlreicher sind in der Niederlage", erklärte Klitschko. Er habe viele Nachrichten in den vergangenen Tagen erhalten. "Eure freundlichen Worte und euer Segen helfen mir, durch diese schwere Zeit zu kommen."
