Kurioser Strategiewechsel beim WTA-Finale in Singapur: Spielerin Swetlana Kusnezowa tauscht Mitten im Match Schere gegen Schläger und knöpft sich ihren Zopf vor.
Für Swetlana Kusnezowa lief es in ihrem ersten Match beim WTA-Finale in Singapur nicht wirklich nach Plan. Die 31-Jährige Russin lag im dritten Satz mit 2:1 zurück, bis sie sich für den entscheidenden Schnitt entschied. Sie griff beim Seitenwechsel zur Schere und schnitt sich ihren Zopf ab.
Der Grund für die kuriose Aktion: Ihr Zopf hatte sie gestört. "Immer wenn ich eine Vorhand geschlagen habe, ist er mir ins Auge geflogen", sagte Kusnezowa nach dem Spiel. "Ich habe mir gedacht, okay, was ist jetzt wichtiger - meine Haare, die ich wachsen lassen kann, oder das Match?"
Ein Video davon postete die Weltranglisten-Neunte wenig später auf ihrem Instagram Account mit den Worten: "Manchmal muss man es nicht von dem besten Friseur machen lassen und nicht zur besten Zeit."

Ob es am neuen Haarschnitt lag oder an ihrer verbesserten Spielweise nach dem Seitenwechsel, am Ende gewann sie überraschend gegen die Weltranglisten-Dritte Agnieszka Radwanska aus Polen mit 7:5, 1:6, 7:5.
