Aachener Studenten haben einen Darth-Maul-Fan-Film produziert, der so gut gemacht ist, dass die sozialen Netzwerke durchdrehen und Los Angeles angerufen hat. Es ist aber nicht das erste Mal, dass deutscher Nachwuchs Hollywood aufhorchen lässt.
Wenn Sie schon immer wissen wollten, wo Darth Maul herkommt: Der 29-jährige Filmstudent Shawn Bu aus Aachen liefert endlich eine Antwort. Und die ist in den letzten Tagen viral gegangen. Knapp 6,5 Millionen Mal wurde das "Star Wars"-Fan-Video "Darth Maul: Apprentice" bereits geklickt. Die sozialen Netzwerke schäumen über vor Begeisterung über das 17-minütige, perfekt inszenierte Video, das Bus Abschlussfilm für das Bachelorstudium an der Fachhochschule Aachen ist. Die Note weiß er schon: 1,0.

Die Höchstnote bekommt er nun auch aus aller Welt: Neben einschlägigen Filmgeek-Seiten wie "Empire", "Star Wars "-Fans, oder auch Moritz Bleibtreu und Lena Meyer-Landrut hat sich sogar Comic-Godfather Stan Lee ("Spider-Man") zu Wort gemeldet:

18 Drehtage haben Bu und sein Kommilitone und Regisseur Vi-Dan Tran für "Darth Maul: Apprentice" gebraucht. Von der Idee bis zur letzten Nachbearbeitung seien es allerdings zwei Jahre gewesen, sagte er im Interview mit "Spiegel Online". 70 Helfer habe er gehabt: Neben den Schauspielern waren das Kameramänner, Kostümdesigner und Visagisten. Wobei der Hauptdarsteller Ben Schamma sich täglich vier Stunden selbst geschminkt habe.

Was ist aus "R'ha" geworden?
"Darth Maul: Apprentice" ist übrigens nicht der erste deutsche Studentenfilm, der Hollywood wuschig macht. Vor gut drei Jahren hatte der damals 22-jährige Berliner Designstudent Kaleb Lechowski mit "R'ha" Science-Fiction-Film-Fans wie auch Filmprofis begeistert. Mittlerweile hat der Kurzfilm die 20 Millionen-Marke gerissen - und Lechowski arbeitet an einem Langfilm.
