Bis zuletzt haben sich hartnäckig Gerüchte um den nächsten Kampf von Tyson Fury gehalten, doch die hat der Brite ausgeräumt. Der Klitschko-Bezwinger beendet seine Karriere – mal wieder.
Tyson Fury hat wenige Wochen nach der Niederlage im Schwergewichts-Spektakel gegen Oleksandr Usyk zum wiederholten Mal seine Box-Karriere beendet. "Ich werde mich kurz und bündig fassen. Ich möchte meinen Rücktritt vom Boxen bekanntgeben. Es war ein Riesenspaß. Ich habe jede einzelne Minute davon geliebt", sagte der 36 Jahre alte Brite seinen 6,9 Millionen Abonnenten auf der Plattform Instagram in einer Videobotschaft.
Zuletzt hatte es noch Spekulationen gegeben, dass die beiden britischen Ex-Weltmeister Fury und Anthony Joshua in diesem Jahr vielleicht gegeneinander antreten könnten.
Tyson Fury beendete erstmals 2022 seine Karriere
2015 hatte Fury nach dem überraschenden WM-Sieg gegen den damaligen Champion Wladimir Klitschko eine lange Pause eingelegt und später von mentalen Problemen und Drogenkonsum berichtet. Etwa drei Jahre später folgte das Comeback. Fury beendete dann 2022 nach dem Duell mit Landsmann Dillian Whyte seine Karriere – und stand zum Ende des Jahres erneut im Ring.

Der "Gypsy King" – so Furys Spitzname – gewann durch seine impulsive, provokante und unterhaltsame Art viele Fans weltweit. Der in Manchester geborene 2,06 Meter große Hüne feierte 2021 und 2022 nach packenden Kämpfen große Siege gegen den US-Amerikaner Deontay Wilder.
Zwei Niederlagen gegen Usyk
Erst kurz vor Weihnachten hatte Fury den Rückkampf gegen den Ukrainer Usyk wie schon beim ersten Kampf im Mai nach Punkten verloren. Alle drei Kampfrichter hatten das Duell in der saudi-arabischen Hauptstadt Riad mit 116:112 für Usyk gewertet. Er sei "beraubt" worden, wütete der Ex-Champion, der sich als Gewinner in beiden Kämpfen gesehen hatte.
Fury sammelte in seiner Laufbahn 34 Siege, darunter 24 Erfolge durch Knockout. Dazu kommen die zwei Niederlagen gegen Usyk und ein Unentschieden gegen Wilder.
