HBO Max hat eine satirische Zeichentrickserie zu den britischen Royals in Auftrag gegeben. Die Idee stammt von dem US-Produzenten Gary Janetti.
Der Video-on-Demand-Dienstleister HBO Max, der bald in den USA startet, will offenbar die britischen Royals in Form einer satirischen Zeichentrickserie ins Fernsehen bringen. Wie unter anderem das US-Branchenblatt "Deadline" berichtet, wurde die Reihe unter dem Namen "The Prince" bereits bei dem US-Produzenten und Autor Gary Janetti bestellt, der zuvor mit einer unterhaltsamen Fotoserie auf Instagram von sich reden machte.

Orlando Bloom soll Prinz Harry sprechen
Darin geht es etwa um zahlreiche Royal-Themen, die satirisch aus der Sicht des sechsjährigen Prinz George dargestellt werden. Die kommende Serie soll auf diesem Format basieren. Auch zahlreiche Sprecher-Rollen sollen bereits vergeben sein, so etwa Janetti als Prinz George, Orlando Bloom als Prinz Harry, Condola Rashad als Herzogin Meghan, Lucy Punch als Herzogin Kate, Iwan Rheon als Prinz William, Alan Cumming als Prinz Charles, Tom Hollander als Prinz Philip und Frances de la Tour als Queen Elizabeth II.
"Ich bin begeistert, bei HBO Max zu arbeiten und ihnen eine weitere Serie über eine Familie zu bringen, die unbarmherzig um den Thron kämpft", wird Janetti von "Deadline" zitiert. Er selbst gab seinen jüngsten Auftrag stolz auf Instagram bekannt, wo die Royals in einer karikaturartigen Comic-Zeichnung abgebildet sind.
Auch der Streamingdienst zeigt sich begeistert. "Wir können es kaum erwarten, zu sehen, was Gary mit einer größeren Leinwand macht als nur einem 1:1-Quadrat", wird Sarah Aubrey, Leiterin von HBO Max Originalinhalt, von "Deadline" zitiert. Dem Bericht zufolge war das Projekt bereits vor ein paar Monaten im Gespräch. Janetti hat unter anderem bei den US-Serien "Will & Grace" und "Family Guy" mitgewirkt. Der Start von HBO Max wurde von Warner Media für Frühjahr 2020 angekündigt.
