Schockmoment in der nordamerikanischen Eishockeyliga: Der erfahrene Verteidiger Jay Bouwmeester von den St. Louis Blues bricht auf der Bank zusammen. Das Spiel gegen die Anaheim Ducks wird abgebrochen.
Wegen eines Kollaps von Verteidiger Jay Bouwmeester ist die Partie der nordamerikanischen Eishockey-Profiliga NHL zwischen den Anaheim Ducks und dem aktuellen Stanley-Cup-Sieger St. Louis Blues abgebrochen worden.
Der 36-jährige Routinier der Blues war am Dienstagabend (Ortszeit) im ersten Drittel nach einer mehr als einminütigen Eiszeit auf der Bank zusammengebrochen. Seine Teamkollegen riefen sofort wild gestikulierend nach Hilfe, Bouwmeester wurde umgehend notversorgt und in ein Krankenhaus gebracht, während sich die Spieler beider Teams - darunter auch der deutsche Nationalspieler Korbinian Holzer aufseiten der Ducks - auf dem Eis versammelten.
"Kardialer Vorfall": Bouwmeester im Krankenhaus
Der Verein teilte in einem ersten Statement mit, dass es sich um einen "kardialen Vorfall" gehandelt habe. Der General Manager der Blues, Doug Armstrong, sagte demnach, dass Bouwmeester wach und ansprechbar war, als er ins Krankenhaus gebracht wurde. Er habe auch seine Arme und Beine bewegen können. "Dank des schnellen Eingriffs unserer und Anaheims medizinischer Abteilung konnten wir Jay schnell stabilisieren", wurde Armstrong zitiert. Für weitere Tests sollte Bouwmeester zunächst im Krankenhaus bleiben.

Für den kanadischen Verteidiger war es der 1241. NHL -Einsatz seiner Karriere. In dieser Saison verpasste er noch kein Spiel. Bouwmeester gehört zum elitären "Triple Gold Club", da er neben dem Stanley Cup auch eine Goldmedaille bei den Olympischen Spielen 2014 in Sotschi und den Weltmeisterschaften 2003 und 2004 mit Kanada gewann.
