Odyssee mit Happy End: Zur großen Freude ihrer Besitzer im US-Bundesstaat Kalifornien ist eine seit Monaten vermisste Hündin tausende Kilometer entfernt von ihrem Zuhause unerwartet wieder aufgetaucht. Von der Tierschutzorganisation Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society (GPAAS) geteilte Bilder und Videos zeigten eine kleine, zottelige Hündin mit weißem Fell, die beim Wiedersehen mit ihren Besitzern freudig mit dem Schwanz wedelte.
Die seit Juli verschwundene Terrier-Mischlingshündin Mishka war von der Polizei nahe der Stadt Detroit im Bundesstaat Michigan aufgegriffen und in ein Tierheim gebracht worden – mehr als 3770 Kilometer entfernt von ihrem Zuhause im südkalifornischen San Diego. Zuvor hatte ein Anwohner den streunenden Hund gemeldet.

Anhand eines Mikrochips konnten die Tierschützer schließlich Mishkas Besitzer in San Diego ausfindig machen. Laut GPAAS machte die Familie zu dem Zeitpunkt zufällig Urlaub in der Stadt Minneapolis im Mittleren Westen und konnte ihr verschwunden geglaubtes Haustier daher persönlich aus dem Tierheim abholen. Wie die kleine Hündin so weit gereist war, bleibt wohl ihr Geheimnis.
